Inkersall Primary Academy is a wonderful school in which to begin or to develop your professional teaching career.
Train to Teach
As a member of The Spencer Academies Trust, Inkersall is able to support a range of entry routes for new teaching entrants.
Initial Teacher Training in schools (SCITT training) is offered through the Trust training hub hosted at the George Spencer Academy in Nottingham. George Spencer Academy has been named by the ‘Good Teacher Training Guide’ as one of the top 10 teacher training providers in the country and the second best primary teacher training institute nationally.
The George Spencer Academy SCITT offers unrivalled support, professional guidance and proven track record in producing highly employable, fully trained teachers. More information is available here.
TeachFirst is a social enterprise programme which aims to address educational disadvantage by linking graduates with selected schools. TeachFirst entrants are placed for two years in schools, during which time they complete a PGCE, and are offered additional leadership skills training and an optional master’s degree.
The destination of TeachFirst trainees after programme completion varies – the programme is designed to prepare graduates either for a longer-term teaching career or for other opportunities. TeachFirst is the largest recruiter of graduates across the UK for this reason. Over time, the programme has placed more than 10,000 teachers in low-income areas, supporting more than one million children.
Inkersall Primary Academy is a qualified TeachFirst school, accepting graduate trainees through the programme. From 2018, TeachFirst graduates will become a valued part of teaching provision in school, supported from the TeachFirst Chesterfield hub.

Members of the Local Governing Body
Outstanding governance is central to the success of Spencer academies, helping to set the direction of our schools and providing the supportive challenge needed to raise standards.
Our local governing bodies are made up of representative members of the school community including parent and community governors. Chosen for a mixture of skills and competencies, they play an important role which includes supporting the Board of Directors with their broader responsibility for governance across the Spencer Academies Trust.
Together, we deliver on the Spencer Academies Trust mission: to provide an outstanding quality of education and improve the life chances of children across the East Midlands.
On behalf of Inkersall Primary Academy, we are currently recruiting for governors able to offer expertise in one of the following areas: finance, human resources, community relations and communications, safeguarding, and governance. Successful candidates will join the Inkersall Primary Academy local governing body (LGB), and may be selected through election (parent governors) or by co-option (community governors)
If you have skills in one of these areas and would like to be considered for membership of a local governing body in a Spencer Academy, please register your interest through the school office at email@example.com
